Day2:(29th May 2008)

After we had breakfast at Rihga Nakanoshima Inn, we went to the Nara Deer Park. There were hundreds of deers there, roaming freely.Next, we visited the Todaiji Temple, where I saw one of the largest bronze Buddha structures. We proceeded to eat lunch at the nearby restaurant, then we visited the famous Kyomizu Temple, where there was nice scenery of Kyoto.Followed by that, we went to visit Nishijin Textile centre where we watched a Kimono fashion show. After that, we went to ride the bullet train to Gifu-Hashima station. The bullet train appears to be going at high speeds from outside (the loud sound of moving air , and the shaking of the ground)
However, from inside the train, is is relatively smooth and easy going. The price of a ticket that is 1 stop away is extremely expensive, about SGD$ 50.It took about 13 minutes to reach the station.

Day 1: (28th May 2008)

Hello, Here's the report ::: After we landed in Kansai Airport, we were greeted by the tour leader, after that, we were taken by bus to the famous Universal Studios Osaka, Japan, for those who want to go there. As Kansai Airport is on an artificial island, we had to cross a bridge to get over to the city of Osaka. The weather, was of course cooler than Singapore. Osaka is the second largest city, after Tokyo, Japan's capital. It took quite a while before we reached Universal studios. The bus dropped off those who want to go and took the remaining few to the famous Osaka Castle. The bus was parked nearby and we had to walk for about 15 minutes before we got to the castle. Then, we had a Japanese set lunch at one of the restaurants nearby. After that, we went to look around the castle. There was a time capsule and a ginkgo tree that was more than 400 years old. Next, the bus took us to Chinatown in Kobe. I bought a green tea flavored ice-cream, which is very popular in Japan. Then, we went to Harbourland, a town close to the bay. We ended our day at Shinsaibashi and Dotombori, the major shopping belt in downtown Osaka. We had our own dinner at a restaurant that specialises in crab. That was the best crab that I had ever tasted !!! It is also quite reasonable, about ¥4500, for a combo set for 2. We stayed for a night at Rihga Nakanoshima Inn. The hotel room was quite good .

The DAY before holiday to JAPAN

Hello,
I will be going to Japan on the 27th of May 2008 for holiday. I am preparing for the trip. The temperature, is of course cooler than Singapore :10--25 degrees Celsius. Been busy packing the necessary items such as toiletries , camera, travel documents, not including air ticket as it will be given when we reach Changi Airport Terminal 3,row 10), etc. It wll be a midnight flight so that means it is the 28th of May already... The time difference is 1h in Japan, compared to here as it is in a different time zone
All mobile phones used there must be able to support 3G. So that means I can't us mine there. Any way, I will be upgrading mine soon, maybe in June. I also can take advantage of this trip to do my Geography assignment. Japan uses the Type A plug, with 2 parallel flat pins. Luckily, the digital camera also uses this plug, so I do not have to purchase an adapter.
Bye Bye , I am off to pack my things.

Last day of school for Term 2!

Hello, today is the last day of school of Term2. Looking forward to the holidays. Unfortunately, we have tons of homework & projects. For English there is Comprehension, for Chinese , we have to do a book review (one of the new Chinese books we bought), Composition, a newspaper article review and a piece of letter writing. There will also be a test when school reopens. It seems that we will have to know the 2 books extremely well in order to sit for the test:( For Maths, we must do the Workbook, and we will have a few online tests. There will also be a test during the first week of school. There's also Project Work (PW). We are supposed to submit a individual Summary Report. There's also Geography----the pamphlet on forests. Also to be submitted during the first week of school. What a fateful day to end the term. Marcus,Mark and me ended up cleaning up the classroom, instead of going for CCA. All because we did not write the 500 lines. Bye for now!

PET Rocket Day

Hello,
Today was the day of the PET rocket project. We brought two 1.5L bottles to school. However, each person only needed to bring 1 bottle. My friend, Aaron did not bring, so I shared with him. Excess bottles will have to be recycled. One bottle was used as the storage tank for water and air. (That's why we need to bring bottles used to contain carbonated drinks, because it is stronger than ordinary mineral water bottle). The other bottle was cut up and used for making the shape of the rocket. There was a orange cone used for the nose of the rocket. A nozzle was screwed on to the opening of the bottle. Then, it was filled with water until 1/3 full; we inserted the opening of the bottle into the firer. Aaron pumped the air until 2 units, while I did the firing.
I was supposed to pull the blue trigger downwards to release the rocket.
We all got drenched after firing the rocket. It blasted water out of the nozzle and landed somewhere near the target. Followed by that, we went to the Hall to get a briefing about the whole project, including how the rocket works and how Newton's law applies here. Hey, do you know what does PET stand for? Now then I realised it is the abbreviation of a type of plastic called Polyethylene terephthalate. Sounds pretty scientific does't it.
The uses of it : is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber. It is one of the most important raw materials used in man-made fibers.
Looking forward to the Holidays in 3 days time :XD

Tampines Mall

Hello,
I went to Tampines Mall today after my Chinese tuition.Parked the car at the public car park at Pasir Ris, then took the MRT to Tampines Mall. It's quite far from Pasir Ris, and quite big too. There is a ZINC shop there. Bought 2 ZINC bags there. 1 medium sized one, for tuition / days with only a few things to bring, 1 large one, for normal school days. The large one was a limited edition , the exterior made of plastic =$$69.90. The medium sized one , the exterior made of PVC type of cloth costs $41.30 after 10% discount from the membership card, which you will get if you spend $50 in a single receipt. I have 2 cards :XD Total cost:---$111.20
The discount does not apply to limited edition bags and promotion items.
By the way, the Heritage Trail was OK, not that interesting.Have some photographs, ENJOY:

The DAY of the Heritage Trail

Hello, Today is the day of the Heritage Trail. Some say it is boring, though I find it a little fun. Went to Fort Canning after Project Work. Wanted to stay back to complete English Project, but we do not have enough "manpower" .Guess we have to do it during the weekends or on Wesak Day:( You know what is the saddest thing, we have to write 500 lines of "I must remember to off the lights and fans when I leave the classroom." This is only the second time and Ms Lee just punished us just like that. At least she could give more chances:-[( WELL so much for that. Bye Bye
