PET Rocket Day

Hello,
Today was the day of the PET rocket project. We brought two 1.5L bottles to school. However, each person only needed to bring 1 bottle. My friend, Aaron did not bring, so I shared with him. Excess bottles will have to be recycled. One bottle was used as the storage tank for water and air. (That's why we need to bring bottles used to contain carbonated drinks, because it is stronger than ordinary mineral water bottle). The other bottle was cut up and used for making the shape of the rocket. There was a orange cone used for the nose of the rocket. A nozzle was screwed on to the opening of the bottle. Then, it was filled with water until 1/3 full; we inserted the opening of the bottle into the firer. Aaron pumped the air until 2 units, while I did the firing.
I was supposed to pull the blue trigger downwards to release the rocket.
We all got drenched after firing the rocket. It blasted water out of the nozzle and landed somewhere near the target. Followed by that, we went to the Hall to get a briefing about the whole project, including how the rocket works and how Newton's law applies here. Hey, do you know what does PET stand for? Now then I realised it is the abbreviation of a type of plastic called Polyethylene terephthalate. Sounds pretty scientific does't it.
The uses of it : is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber. It is one of the most important raw materials used in man-made fibers.
Looking forward to the Holidays in 3 days time :XD
