Transcend HDD

Hi, I just went to Low Yat plaza to get a Transcend Hard Disc Drive (HDD) 500 GB Store Jet 25 M for RM 303. It is shockproof, drop tested with U.S Military Standard( MIL-STD-819F METH.516.5 Proc.IV) This should suffice, as the HDD wouldn't be dropped from a height of 1 meter. My previous encounters with Hard disks have not been too good, when my Western Digital couldn't even withstand a knock, whats more, a drop? I rather get a lower capacity Solid State Drive (SSD) This, has no moving parts in the drive, thus can withstand drops and knocks well. The cost is more expensive though. It comes with 2 year warranty with 1 year additional provided by the store.

Also, I got a HP ink refill for the printer. Give it a try, see how it compares to the original.

Picked up some Mitsubishi DVD+R in 25s. This is for the DVD recorder. Had some plastic holder to go with it.

I saw a 128GB flash drive retailing at RM1000+ hehe, this would be good for compact storage that wouldn't be damaged too easily. Maybe for a mission ?

In future, flash drives will be much cheaper with much more storage space.

Jusco, maluri

Hi . went to Jusco at Jalan Maluri today. Well there were discounts on many produts, and got the chance to pick up some clothes.

We were here the previous day to buy a microwave oven for a tenant, however it was closing time then. Today we had much time to shop around and look at interesting products.

I met my previous kindergarten teacher, now working at the mall. About 10 years later? hmm....

Astro Beyond HD

Hi,

Looks like tm net just upgraded the Internet service today. That was considered fast<1day>

I was hoping it would be immediate. When I tested the speed using Speed test, it was about 1.6Mbps to a local server :) That confirms it.

Anyway, Astro is also upgrading its service for High Defenition (HD) broadcast. This should be exciting. You need to upgrade the satellite dish, decoder and cabling. They offer a few channels initially,but will add more soon. It costs RM20 additional for the HD service. 5 HD channels----National Geographic HD , ESPN HD, HBO HD, History Channel HD and Supersport HD.

The new decoder has new features---5.1 channel audio output, 1 USB port, 1 LAN port and 1 HDMI output.

The 5.1 channel audio is good for surround sound with 5 speakers. USB is for your external Hard Drive which can be used to record videos, taht can only be played back by the decoder. LAN port is for future use where you can plug in the LAN cable to download movies. Something like IPTV by Singtel Mio in Singapore. Wait till the internet gets faster to use that fuction -.-

The HDMI output will give you 16 : 9 widescreen format that has the original aspect ratio and not compressed to fit.

We will just have to wait until this is approved for condominiums.

Hi, I upgrade my Internet in Malaysia from 512kbps to 1Mbps. As you know the Internet there is turtle and expensive, unlike South Korea, where most places have 100Mbps Internet for about USD 60. Quite good for the most wired nation. Well here it is RM66 (+5) for the upgraded 1Mbps. They give free 4 months. Then after that RM5 extra. For streamyx, the 2 and 4 Mbps is not reasonable. You also need to use their modem ...The Pear to Pear sites are also given low priority,

Well let's look at the other ISPs. Metrofone is interesting. They use fibre optics and provides 2Mbps in the form of Ethernet to the Home(ETTH) This means that you do not use the copper line, instead a fibre optic one and no modem is needed.RM 60 is quite ok. Unfortunately it does not provide service to my area and is available to condominiums. MiMax is another option. The 10Mbps is expensive though. This has a usage limit, so if you use more than the quota, they would throttle your speed :(

Let's see how long it takes for them to process our request and provide the 1Mbps Internet service. :D

Reading up

Hi,

I have been reading up on the different subjects, namely A & E Math, Chinese, Science, Geography. I find A math a bit more complex than E math, that is why you need to get the basics right first, such as Indices. Like what Mr koh said, Indices would be useful in A math. Hmm, Surds, Indices, Logarithms. Science, as it is pure, is more detailed.

Aspire 4810TG

Hi,

We went to Low Yat Plaza today and I got an Acer Aspire 4810TG for RM 2,999 . Well, this Core 2 Duo SU 9400 with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz 800 Mhz FSB. This is a low voltage processor, thus don't expect it to be fast in processing. Good enough for general everyday computing. You have to compromise performance for stamina, with a battery life of 8+ hours, it uses minimal power consumption. GPU is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330. This is for notebooks with 512 MB VRAM and uses less power then the 5 series. The display size is 14" HD LED. Standard 2GB DDR3 memory.This can be updraded too. Then there is a normal HDD by Western Digital 320 GB.The main board itself is split into 4 layers. The cooling is by Intel's Laminar Wall Jet technology. Just like in jet engines, the engine itself can reach 1000 degrees centigrade, but the wall must be kept cool, so as not no ignite the fuel stored in the wings. This is commonly used in ultra thin laptops.

The best is the Windows 7 , new layout and features. This is where it gets interesting. This OS is meant to be faster than Vista.That's why I totally skipped getting a Vista.

Overall, the Aspire 4810TG is a thin laptop that can function well, with a Windows experience score of 4.4 for processor, it is mid range. <1.0>

HDD transfer rate at 5.4

As you can see, the processor is the lowest, as this is not your normal P or T series, but a low voltage SU.

3rd last day of school

Hi, Today is Wednesday, 30 days from 28th September 2009.

For Chinese, we went through how to write a News report. After that we headed to computer Lab to do the survey. It was for individual subject teachers. Had PE then recess.

Geography was in Geography room. During E.lit, Mr Wee came in and we did the project on Spain.

Maths, Mr Koh came instead of Mr tong, to teach indices..

Common Test

Today was the Common Test for Science. Since Mr. Wee said it was quite difficult. I think I can only get 70%, maybe ? This was considerably more difficult, compared to the previous tests. ((((The topics tested now, remind me of my Primary 6 Science teacher. You know, he will teach anything under the sun, EXCEPT our Primary School syllabus. What a joke... he said you will have read up yourself. He covered Heart & Digestion too.A bit too much information then, but now it's starting to be useful. )))) Today we had English and E.lit. For E.lit, we had an impromptu test. We are supposed to write a poem

Run for cancer

Hi, Today we went to East Coast park for the run against cancer. It was at Carpark E2. Sponsored by Singtel. In actual fact, we needed to pay $18, but the school paid for us. I took about 1 hour to run 5 km. Finished at 9 a.m , redeemed our drinks and apple. We watched the magic show, then there is a South African drum performance. Well, I walked about 8km to reach home.Meanwhile, some went to Parkway Parade on the way. .....

Late for school

Oh today is such a sad day, It was unfortunate that I was late today, I haven't tried the new rule yet, so this is my very first time. We are supposed to run around the very tiny little fountain near the General Office for 5 minutes. I take about 10 seconds run around the circumference of the fountain. It's about 10 m in diameter, so logically, a fountain with 1m in diameter should take me 1 sec :)

Hi, Today we had English, Science, chinese Maths. Done! For English, we did introductory sentences. Science, finished digestion gave back Science test. Chinese, we did a Composition. I just finished on time though. Maths, got back Maths test. Went CO at 1.50p.m. At about 3.30p.m, there was a break. There is a Geography test tomorrow? Hmm

We had E lit today. For Science, we finished the Chapter, so there is no need to come for supplementary lessons for Science tomorrow. ACC, we learnt how to calligraph our surname. Recess, then Geography, there was the mind-map. Malay, handed in E-learning assignments. Math, we had a open book class test. Plotting graphs? Again. Went home ....

PE was training first. NAPHA is next week. Again, there was this distinct Erhu sound coming from the block of flats. Must have practiced everyday.

First Day of Term 3

Hello,

Today is the first day of Term 3, and already there is a common test on the books we have read. There was English. We need to hand in the Summary by Thursday.

After that P.E, by Mr Hoo. We did warm up and ran around the field for 10 mins. There was somebody playing the Erhu in one of the flats. Could tell the lound and distinct sound.......We have P.E tomorrow again. It seems we are going to do our five stations very soon.

Recess was 1015 to 1100 At least that was better than what we had last term. (1100 to 1145) Earlier recess, less hungry.

English Literature, Ms. Lily Koh. Today was an introduction. Use alliterations of your name to introduce yourself. Tomorrow we need to meet outside TEN so we can use the facilities there. Back to English, we sat in rows and took turns to talk about certain topics: Chocolates, Least favourite food, Breakfast, Home-Based learning. You can guess what Terence was most enthusiastic about.

After that for SEL, we went to the tower hall to have the Quality of School Experience (QSE) briefing by Mr Yeow. we will be conducting the survey on the next three days to come.

Science project

Hi. We met up as a group today. With Yu Yang, Daniel & Terence as the Science group members. They didn't bring anything, so Yu Yang brought the poster home and asked Terence and Daniel to send him the research. Daniel and Terence had Choir from 9 to 5 suppose. they are not done at this present moment. They have performance, that's why. Ticket charge $15 + $1 sistic charge. on 30th June. Daniel brought a HP pocket PC, touchscreen, unfortunately NO WI-FI. Started at 9.30a.m , ended at 10.30 p.m . Terence brought a lot of things, but no Science research. It totally irrelevant. ALL the stuff he brought = Computer freak

So many brochures, all on Electronics, desktops, Graphics Card, Mobile Phones, Computer Software course, just to name a few. he even recommended me to buy some stuff.

I met up with my Science group today. With Cai Hao, Yu Yang & Yu Xuan.It was from 1.45p.m to 5 p.m. It is quite long because Cai Hao wants everything to be perfect. We did a Power Point on Mitch Albom and his books. Yu Xuan used his mother's Fujitsu laptop, quite nice, with the new technology. We watched some videos in the process.

Doing Homework

About the Holidays, not that good with the projects. 3 in total. 2 already confirmed a meet-up, which is Science & English. English group is better, as it is more organised. We decided when to meet up in the last weekof school, all thanks to Cai Hao :)We will be meeting at Yu Xuan's house at 1.45p.m Expected time to complete: Before 3.00p.m The next day is Science, in school doing a poster...  2 of our group memberes have difficulty meeting up, because of Choir.

I went to Hong Kong today. Marco Polo Hotel Hong Kong is at Harbour City Canton Road. The road is full of luxury items, if you think it is. It's convenient if you want to get anything. May be more expensive compared to Singapore. 

NPCC day

Hi,

     Today is NPCC day. Teachers had a meeting in the morning, like on Monday. Chinese was missed, otherwise we would have done the Chinese Online Quiz. Home Econs was a disaster. made a sandwich, then ate it during class.

     Maths, we were given the holiday homework on Volume and Surface Area. It was lucky I didn't fail Maths. If not, I have to come back next week.

     Music, we watched a film, no need to perform :) 

     History, continued watching "The Pianist" , how the protagonist escaped / cheated death.

     For FTI, Mr. Wee talked about our results. Mine was not that good.(   64.8     ) Can't even meet the minimum requirement: 65 %  0.2% more 

0.2 * 7 = 1.4 marks per subject...

Since we were not doing anything productive, we were released 5 mins earlier. 

     After that, we went to the canteen to eat. 

      Later part of the day: We were walking around, then Unfortunately, we met Terence. !!! So unfortunate!!!

       We sat down on the stone table, Terence took off his spectacles and left it on the table. I didn't care about him. After that. he found it to be missing and accused me? What?  So Ridiculous. He grabbed me asked where I put it. LOL?

       He purposely got angry and wanted to land a few blows on me. So violent. In the end he found it on the stool, then blamed me for stealing. Fake police report, want to sue me. Wa Terence so ambitious. Then that attracted the attention of the Church office, then confronted us. bla bla bla.

        In the end he said he was acting? He wanted to go TEN to play, but then attack me. :(

Rather go C.O la :)

I realised that apart from me, nobody in my class likes C.O.

NSW Science Paper

Hi,

     Today we had the NSW Science competition. It's quite different similar to the Physics we learn. We may have forgotten the Chemistry + Biology part  though.

      In the morning, there was History; should start revising.

     Malay, teacher didn't come, there was a crossword puzzle.Terence & Yu Xuan were lamenting about how their PW group is uncooperative.

  For Chinese, we did the workbook then there was a past year paper to be done on Monday.        90 minutes for the whole thing.

      We went down late for recess, late for Science. Finished the Chapter on moment of force. Then got back Science Test. The last 3 questions were not that easy to understand.

English, we were given a Comprehension Skill Worksheet as well as a Vocabulary exercise.

Immediately after that, at 1.15, we headed to the Science Lab to do NSW Science Paper.

Not enough time. A confirmed -10 marks already which means the maximum I can get is 35. Still need to - those I didn't know how to do.

     Today was quite  momentous, as today marks the last day the Sec 4 seniors are attending CCA :(

It is hard to believe the fact. Anyway, we had C.O presidential Election today. Charmaine won by a landslide victory... Gui Er wasn't even close.

When asked what instrument he would join, Chuan Kun wanted Cello.

There was the hand over of committee members.

When it was over, he asked me," How to use Erhu?"

Even Chuan Kun is interested in other instruments.

Erhu is a very versitile instrument, since there is no finger board :)

SYF actual day

Hi,

     We had SYF today. Many things happened, before and after. My BET: If we get Gold for SYF I will hug the Concert Master. Right after assembly, we went to C.O room to prepare. Tune instruments. Chee Kiat's Gao Hu string snapped suddenly.Told you the D string had a problem... Erm, took a long time to change, maybe too nervous. 

Changing bridge takes 3 seconds ?

Changing 2 strings takes 15 minutes ?

Wei Qian asked Chee Kiat to rub a lot of rosin on the bow hair. So much so that there was a considerable amount of difference before and after using the rosin cake.Don't you think using Violin rosin is wrong? Chinese song xiang, is quite different, it is more brittle. However, violin rosin still can be used, as it is more common. Well, everybody uses Schwarz, maybe the cheapest?

Then, on another Erhu, the A string also snapped. The end where there is blue thread broke...

That, I will change later, just in case there are not enough strings for SYF...

We went to the Hall for the last practice. As we were walking to the Hall, they wanted to go toilet. They left their instruments leaning against the wall. Wei Qian worried, "How can you leave your instrument like that." Helped him to hold, Wei Qian more relieved, maybe because Wei Qian thinks I am a bit experienced in handling?

 Practice wasn't that good. Suona so heavy, still want to raise it up, bring it down, raise it up again. Part of affecting the pitch and doing tai feng. Stared at Wei Qian, Wei Qian didn't stare back, fun thing to do to relieve stress :)

Had a break at 10 a.m. Went to C.O room at 10.30 a.m. Rested a while, before we changed into the costume. Packed all our instruments. Chee Kiat brought a spare Gao Hu, just in case the string breaks again. 1 box is heavier that the other :) The Huqin section took 1 bus, while the rest like plucked string and wood winds took another bus.

When we reached there, we alighted and went in from the back. We registered and sat down in 3 rows. Followed by that, we took out the instruments from the case and left the hard case outside the Conference Hall. 

Soon, we were in the tuning room for the last minute practice and tuning. About 5 minutes inside, that's all. The time is precious.

C.O rehearsal

Hi, today there was a C.O rehearsal. ON  A SUNDAY ?

Quite O.K, complicated, maybe

Suona: The last day I am playing is tomorrow. Let it be a good one, and I can say good bye :)

 It is quite heavy holding at at 90 degrees. 

+ The lowering & raising part is difficult to synchronise with the music.

It started at 10a.m and ended at 12.30p.m

We improved, a bit

Hope I have the correct pitch. The problem with wind instruments is that it can't be tuned. Unlike Strings, where there are tuning pegs. Tuning pegs can slip :( At least if you push it in, it wouldn't slip that much.

After that, we went back to C.O room, to rest a while.

I saw erm Chee Kiat's Gao Hu string  loose. That's what happened on Friday. If you leave it on its own, it will unwind by itself. Scary. I turned it back, and it was fine...

Must be careful...

For FTI, we used some time to go to the Library to borrow books :) Then I went for Remedial at 2.30 p.m Remedial finished at 3.00 p.m

     I went for C.O from 9.ooa.m to about 12p.m.The extra 30 minutes was for staying back a while to play the you know what, because I was quite sad over Suona :(

     As a result, I borrowed an Erhu home. Oh, Wei Qian was soo surprised / shocked. I think attendance was taken.

     Unfortunately, the I didn't have any rosin, thus the sound was not so good. No fine adjusters, more difficult to tune. The pegs kept slipping, even though I pushed it in.

Chinese Test

Hello,

          Today we had a Chinese Test. It was O.K For History, we finished Chapter 7.

We went through some vocabulary during Chinese. Then there was recess.

So for Science, we used 1 period to do up the class notice board.

            A worksheet was given during English. We are supposed to do all, except the summary.

Now for the fun part, Erhu sectionals at 3p.m. I didn't go there to blow the Suona, obviously. Just resting there. Then when Zhe Qian and Chee Kiat came, I just took out an Erhu and tried a while. Erm, the tuning took a long time, as the pegs kept on slipping, even though I pushed it in and there was no fine adjusters. I was determined not to touch Suona today, not today!

             Zhe Qian and I went to our own class. He was playing some games, while I was practising Erhu. The sound was quite screechy, probably because I didn't apply rosin at all. The rosin allows the bow to grab the strings.

               At 5.00 p.m, we went down as they wanted to lock the classroom. Well, there is C.O on Sat, Mon, Tue, Thurs, Friday & Sunday.

How ridiculous!!!

I wouldn't mind if there was Erhu self-practice.

But Suona is definitely a NO-NO!!!

I don't feel like playing Suona anymore...

April Fool's Day

Hi,

     Today is April Fool Day, I suppose. Today we also made our product for Home Econs.       For Chinese, we went through the textbook,

      Home Econs, we were give 1 hour to complete whatever we need to do. we are doing Thai Pineapple fried rice. I brought the Pineapple and mixed vegetables.

       For Maths, we learnt the Congruence and similarity property. Ate the Pineapple fried rice, quite OK. There is a maths test next week. It clashes with Chinese :(

       There was Music presentation today. Mine is next week. Most probably we will sing a song. History, we read Chapter 7. Life after WW II.

        We went to the hall for assembly. Since it is English week today, there was story telling, and it was erm from the Sejarah Melayu. It ended at 2.15p.m. '

      Something unexpected cropped up in class!!!

Terence accused me of spraying water at him, when it he barely got wet ???

We had Chinese remedial after that. It was about the phrase.

Went to TEN to play mini-pool.

 

Founder's Day

Hello,

            Today is Founder's Day, and we celebrated it with a walkathon.No lessons today :) We went out of the school by the back gate, then came back in through the front. Fortunately it was just a walk :) I heard that sports players have to walk a longer distance. After that, the Lower Secondary was dismissed and the Upper Secondary had to stay back. We were given an isotonic drink and an apple.

             Soon, we were back in class to rest for a while. It ended at 10.30 p.m. So while on the way back to class, someone poured the drink on T.   

T got angry, accused me. I touched his face lightly, he shoved me to the ground the 4th time!

:(

T is so violent...

After that, I went to the Library to return the books. I walked to the C.O room. Wei Qian was there. rest a while, then help to tune Chee Kiat's Gao Hu. Wei Qian saw me,  showed me, then said I have the potential ... But, I want to learn how to play, not have the potential to play. The last time Wei Qian thought I was joking, but it is true, I really do want to learn how to play the Erhu. I practiced my Suona, under the guidance of Wei Qian. Since when did I like to play the Suona?  I really don't mind practising the Erhu. I don't really like Wind instruments, because of the need to blow and erm hold breath.

           

  So later when Lin lao shi came at about 1.30.  ,    Chee Kiat and Zhe Qian also came along. At that time, Lin lao shi said, if you want to change to Erhu, after SYF I can transfer for you. Bear in mind that you need to buy the instrument. Buying is no problem, I just want to practice until I am good .

For now, I have to practice Suona.

Cow Planting

Hi all,

         Today, the school planted cows to brighten up the school I suppose, partly because of the cow year. The Year heads and HODs planted cows on the grass patch beside the parade square. So Cute... 

           During Chinese, the teacher did not come. Get well soon :) Then we read Chapter 6.

For Home Econs, we made Spaghetti. Joshua took a bit, then he gave all back to me. It Will be my recess then. For Maths, we were told to finish Worksheet 5.3.

          For Music, we learnt more about jingles, beat and rhythm. For History, we finished the topic on Japanese Occupation.

           Went to TEN to play mini-pool

First Day of Term 2

Hi,

     Today was the first day of Term 2. There was so much homework to do,  not forgetting CCAs.

I didn't do well as expected, because of careless mistakes :(

During Science, we went through the Worksheet that was given during SPA.]

For History, we talked about the Japanese Occupation, which was helpful for our Project.

During English, we looked through our Homework that was given before the Holidays.

Moving to C.O

We had the combined practice for a while, before being dismissed for sectionals. During sectionals, we used a tuner to get out note correct. I could sing the correct note, but playing was a different story:( After that, I practised Fong, the parts I am not sure.

I zonked out, couldn't think for that moment. Mental  block, I don't know. 

I need more practice. SYF is inches away, can't disappoint anybody.

SYF is not a competition, it is a judging. That's the difference.

Don't feel too nervous, just keep calm.

Everything will turn out well.

C.O was so fun

Hi,

     Today's C.O was super fun, in the beginning. I think that was after the 20mins break. Then, Wei Qian was sitting at the Zhong yin Sheng. Cheek Kiat asked me to sit at Wei Qian's seat, beside Chee Kiat. He wanted to hear me play. However, I could not hear the other wind instruments. the Huqins drowned the Guan Yue. After that, everyone started switching instruments.

  So fun. Zhen Yi could play, Suona, Sheng, Percussion instruments, surprisingly can play Erhu so well on Sai Ma.

      At 12.pm, there was a break. We went to  85 and ate curry rice. After that Chee Kiat treated me to bubble tea, in exchange to do History project, too unreasonable. $ 5 each from Zhe Qian and Chee Kiat would be better. Then we walked back to the school back gate.

       C.O commenced at 1.15p.m, that was when Lin lao shi came :( Can't switch instruments.

We changed seats, now there is a better, and unobstructed view.It ended at 3.oop.m, because lin lao shi said we were very tired, no point staying until so late.

Need to do History!!!

Indoor Sports Hall (ISH) | Results Day

Hi,

First, there is History lesson. Why were the Japanese so strong in the war? There were many reasons, one of them being the British underestimated the Japanese. History home work was given today. The topics---- Japanese Occupation: A "japanized" Singapore and a period of fear and terror! or A period of Propaganda, Poverty and sufferings.

I think I am going to choose the first one.The deadline is 26th March 2009, quite reasonable.

During Malay, we learnt about the Malay wedding.

During Chinese, we went through the Chinese vocabulary for the test on the 2nd week of Term 2. Those who failed Chinese have to do a newspaper report that is >300 words.

During Science, we finished Dynamics and talked about our CA1 results. For English, Mrs.Koh did not come, we were asked to do the Comprehension worksheet that was given long ago. So, although we were the best in Science, sadly, we were the worst in English :-( I think the book quiz should not be counted( 20%), which means 1 mark in book quiz= 1 mark in overall.

1 mark in Comprehension=4 marks in overall !

The Book Quiz was not even fair. Some got multiple choice questions, some could refer to the book, while some was open ended.

As I chose the open-ended, I did badly. The trouble with choosing simple books. 7/20 :(

The Comprehension was O.K, except for the Vocabulary section and the last question. -5 marks

Final score 15/20.

Well, I sort of guessed correctly my score, while many did badly:(

Every mark is important, mainly because of the weightage of the test.

For Chinese, I didn't study, thus I got an F9.

Although for Maths I got A1, it's still a Band 3 :(

Science was quite ok...

Art could have gotten more|A1

Home econs was a relief, thought I got low marks, in fact it was A2

History was C6/59.3 Could have gotten B4 /60+

However, the overall results were not that promising :(

B3 | 67.40

Mainly because of Chinese.

It's OK I shall work harder to get at least 70 in the overall. I have to improve a few marks in each subject.

On a softer note, we watched the Sports Spectacular, which consists of Table Tennis, Netball, Wushu, Badminton, Softball & Basketball.

It's quite good, considering that they have been preparing for a year or so.The indoor sports Hall is a new addition to the school. So it is the venue of the 3 -on 3 basketball competition. However, I feel that it doesn't have this grand look (Sadly) It ended about 4p.m. Then, something funny happened. Terence accused me of turning on his light for the whole period of time. It was so funny, he even asked for compensation. Tee Hee Bye

Maths Common Test

Hi,

      Today we had a Maths Common Test. It was doable , but quite tedious. After that there was maths lesson. The homework is to complete Heymath, all 25 questions. For English, we got back our report. The one Wilton ans I did was atrocious. A            D       grade is somewhat bad. I don't think I can get an A for next term's results. Sad + Depressed. NEWS REPORT MUST BE DONE PROPERLY!! We are doing Joe's, Yu Xuan's, Zhe Qian's and Chee Kiat's group skid. 

It must be in Chronological order------------follows the sequence of events.

       During Maths, we learnt about how to make  a the subject of an equation. Then we were told go home and practise the questions.

        During SEL, Mdm Tham came and split us up into groups. Then we were given a few pictures, and we had talk about them. These pictures are all socially unacceptable, so we have to comment on them.

        After that, I went to the Library to return and borrow books. I could not go for CCA as I had a sore throat. I think I can only go on friday.

        So sad, I need to do Home Econs now....

Oh no, tomorrow is Home econs. I think I am going to get 60% for CA1,

Super Emo day...

Hi all,

          Today was such an EMO day!!!( like Chuan Kun suggested) ELABORATE ON THAT LATER.

For History, we learnt about the Great Depression, and how it affected Singapore.I think my History result was 59.8888%  ........................................

           Then Malay we played bingo, then the prize is marshmallows. Daniel and Joe got 5 each. Then during Chinese, the Indonesian students came to our class to know more about how the lessons are conducted here.

Home economics/ Project work = depressed & worn out

Hi all,

          Today was  a really bad day. Got back Chinese Papers, I got really low... I didn't really fill in the blanks. Received Chinese Composition, I just passed, as a result of not writing a minimum of 800 words. At least the HCL class composition can be brought home to do.

Next is the worst section of the day. Home Economics/ Project Work made me depressed today. Joe didn't come today. Ended up, we had to do his section for him. I was really worn out. You know I stayed back 3 times. One during lesson, one during RECESS, which meant I skipped a meal, and one after school. I was really glad that it was finally done. We had to skip SEL/FTI because of that. It was quite interesting as Mr.Wee talked about the Gaza Strip, and what is going on there. The reason being, the school wants us to be more up to date in current affairs. We celebrated the birthdays of Pei Xuan , Rebeka & Koek Ching.

         After that, I went for Chinese remedial. Talked about family in the short paragraph, which we have to memorise. I went to the Eagles Nest with Jerome after that. We played mini-pool together. I saw Terence, Wilton, Daniel, Zhen Shen inside. I played yesterday too. Well, I rather play mini pool than Counter Strike. It just isn't fun.

    I went home at 4.30p.m

English Common Test

Hi ,

        Today we had English Common Test. It was ok-ok. maybe I can get about 15/20. During Maths,we did some more on chapter 4. i am scared of the next week's Maths Common Test. Chapter 3 & some parts of chapter 4 will be tested. During English, we went through the Comprehension Skill worksheet given on Thursday. 

        

New Chapter for Science

Hi ,

       Today, we had 8 minutes of static, extremely tiring :( We did push-ups, and then we were free to play what ever we wanted. I played Table Tennis with Daniel, Terence & Yu Yang. I brought a  very old bat, but still in very good condition. After that, we had ART, thus we handed in our final piece of work, after touching-up. We have to do the research on Chang er and Hou ji. The design of the costume is also needed. 

        During recess, I went to the canteen to eat noodles. After Recess,we had Science. There was the addition of Vectors by the Law of Parallelogram. It wasn't very interesting. Majority of the class were tired, mostly from P.E. We had ACC too.

        After school, we stayed in class for a while, then unexpectedly, Joe stuck the duster onto the fan and it started spinning. 

         Friday is relaxing, so is the CCA. I wish I could join Erhu or maybe Dizi. I am thinking of....... Maybe after SYF, who knows? We practised the 2 songs, and a bit of the new song. CCA ended at 5.30 p.m. I met Joe when he finished Robotics.

         I am reading Comprehension notes, for Tuesday's  English Test.

We need to bring the Maths file on Monday, for checking I suppose.

SPA Test

Hi all,

          Today we had a SPA test, it was on the micro-meter screw gauge. I measured a glass rod. The reading was about 6.00 mm. Before that, we had to do a Composition for Chinese :( I think I had exhausted my mental capability then. I couldn't think of anything to write, whats more, it is open-ended, so you have to think of your own plot. Before that, we ha Malay and then History. We got back our History Quiz. I only did well enough to get A2. 

          During English, we went to the Spring Lab to do our English Report. Wilton & I completed the report on the case of a thief. At abot 3.pm, I went to the Libraryto browse through some books,,before going to The Eagles Nest to watch Wilton play pool. Chee Kiat & Zhe Qian were also there.

Chinese Common Test

Hi,

    Today's Common Test was really bad. Anyone can slap me if I pass ... That is real. The Comprehension is very difficult. You have to give your own examples. This is the hardest test I have done this year.

     During Maths, we were taught Chapter 4 : Algebraic Manipulation and Formulae. It might get complicated later on. Homework is in the work book. During English, we went through the homework. Then when recess arrived, we went to the A/V Theatre to have a briefing on the China Immersion Trip. 

During english, we went to the Summer Lab to do practise our report.

         During SEL, Mr. Wee came to class and discussed on certain issues. After school, I went to the

Library to return books, before going for CCa which starts at 3.pm.

          Zhe Qian sat next to me during CCA. I was trying to blow his Dizi then. Partly so blow together. since his seniors had not come yet.  

    

Girl Guides World thinking Day & Scouts Founders Day

Hello,

today we commemorated the girl guides world thinking day and Scouts founders day. today we ran for 12 minutes during P.E ; we were very worn out after that. We still had to do push ups, making our arm muscles tear after that :( The next half of the P.E lesson, we went to play Table Tennis.

          We learnt how to draw the hair during ART. We need to hand in our work by the next lesson.

I got back my previous piece. I didn't come on 23/1/2009 , thus I had to make up the next lesson.

We exchanged gifts today. 

During CCA, I was forced to pay $6, shared with Chuan Kun. That was very unreasonable, literally stealing, though we did not go for the concert, which was held today. While I was playing, my instrument, it suddenly jammed and can't be pressed :[ As a result, I could not play the notes correctly.

I shall see what my conductor can do to fix it on Monday.

I am going to Malaysia for a break.

Reached in Malaysia

Hi. I finally reached my home in Malaysia. I took an Air Asia Airbus A320 to the LCC (Low cost carrier) terminal. The terminal is quite different from the main building. We can walk on the airport tarmac to get to the immigration. The A320 is considerably small. 1 row has only 6 seats, separated by an aisle. The engine seems to be less powerful, but it is more fuel efficient. We  got lost trying to get t K.L, but luckily the GPS navigation system helped. 

We reached home at about 1.AM . The terminal is about 60 kilometres away from my home, not very convenient.

I am off to retire for the night ...

The Game of Angels and Mortals

Hello everybody,

                              We are playing Angles and Mortals :-)

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:) Its so fun. My mortal was just as expected, nothing surprising. Hmmm, wonder who my angel is? Hope that person is not scary. We are supposed to give my mortal notes, or cards. any card would be fine, but give at least two. We need to take care of our Mortals :) But try not to give money $$ . Bring 2 gifts to exchange with your mortal and angel. The results will be known on Friday, 20th February 2009. 

      During Chinese, we had a group discussion about the newspaper article Group ---Joann, Charmaine, Cai Hao, Yuyang and me. 

      We went to the Science Lab today, and did experimnts using the Pendulum. After that, we came back  to class to have English Lessons.

       After school, Terence and I went to the school Library to borrow books. He borrowed computer books. After that, we met Daniel and we booked a computer together. Daniel was  doing his Home Econs, and we joined in. Terence was trying to make a simple programme

Total Defence

Hello,

           Today during Home Econs, there was no practical, thus we did the bibliography of our research. Both the Internet and printed source. I did a flow chart and a mind map. Related to a rice dish. After that during Maths, we learnt how to use the cross method again, this time we can simplify , so it is easier:) During recess, I had to go to the kitchen to finish my mind map for home econs. During Music, we learnt about the different instruments used in Chinese Opera, which reminds me of C.O.

   During History, we learnt  compare & contrast. Example: How similar are the two sources?AND How are the two sources similar? Notice the similar is at the front and back. Ms. Fadhzilla called out who is no. 29? Everybody said he was not here. Then at that time I was putting my finger on my lip, asking Chee Kiat to keep quiet, then she thought I am no. 25, so funny. Then had to determine which type of questions was asked. Almost got it wrong :-\

              Really, I prefer Geography, maybe it is more fun :-]   i mean no need to remember like History... Can't wait for Geography!

After That, we proceeded to the Hall for the sharing on Total Defence day, 15th February. Actually we did not need the handbook, but brought it just in case.\

I went to the Library today, borrowed an Art book, and also to help me in Art :0 It is quite helpful. [Drawing A Fundamental & Practical Guide] since it only features pencil drawings. teaches you how to draw anything, including portraits!

So tired today, because of assembly, thus released late :(

Mathematics Common Test

Hello,

          Today was the Maths Common Test, maybe a bit hard to do. Pythagoras Theorem, Proportions and the first 2 chapters of Algebra ( Expansion is 2 marks each!) Mr.Wee said that many people were careless in the last question 4.

           During Maths lesson today, Mrs.Chuah taught the cross method of factorisation, another way apart from the 3 algebraic identities. So we have to do sort of a trial and error it there are many multiples. 

            For English, we went through an exercise on how to infer from the passage, like what we did last year. We exchanged the papers to mark, I got a mere 10/14 Must be precise in answering.

As usual there was the song dedication thing, ( if only they could have better speakers) then it would be nice. During SEL, we needed to fill out the Social Emotional Rubrics. The 3 best & 3 worst. Then, I went to the Library to borrow read books. I saw Chee Kiat & Ze Qian at the street soccer court. CCA started at 3 p.there was combined self practice in the C.O room. It ended at

 5 p.m. I ate many meals today. Recess---After School----During CCA break-----After CCA, almost S$ 10 in a day :-|

P.E s so fun

Hello all,

Today we had P.E. We played soccer. Girls played Captain's Ball. So fun today. The last part of the game I was a goalie, luckily I didn't let any balls in :) After that we went for a 8 minute slow jog. I played table tennis with Mr. Lim. The others played soccer again. The Table Tennis players were excused from P.E because of a competition. For ART, We drew a rough sketch of a sports personality, or self portrait. Mine looks super funny. We learnt some kinematics today for Science, so boring and difficult to understand. Mr Wee going to go through on Monday. During ACC, Mdm. Tham talked about Wu Ze Tian, so interesting. As usual, we had C.O today. Combined practice, for SYF. We didn't practise for tomorrow's CNY performance, for the Alumni. So we have to go to school at 10 p.m. , but it starts later. See You

Emo Day

Hi all,

           I don't know why, but today is such an Emo day. Had History presentation, for the remaining groups. Then Malay, we had a relief teacher, same as the one in Sec 1. She has such good memory, can remember Koek Ching, Yan Han, Zhen Shen, any some others.

          Chinese was the same as usual. Everybody did not feel good. Did the newspaper article, went through some vocabulary and a told story. Neither of those things sufficed. So strange today, we were so bored, maybe it is 2 periods of Chinese? I don't know. Playing a game will make it worse. 

I prefer tomorrow, at least not that stressful,I am beginning to practise my 2 songs, beginning to be more focused in my CCA. There is a new year performance on Saturday.

   For science, we stayed in class, no Practical. This was the killer, though Mr. Wee had to leave at 1.00 p.m so we had 15 minutes to rest. Well, Physics is not very easy to understand. You see, I don't  particularly like Physics, just neutral. Very similar to Mathematics, especially conversion of units, graphs, NUMBERS...

             For English I got back my essay. I am in the top Medium range (19-22) almost a good. Essay was quite OK, except that I did not give some examples of famous buildings. 

So I went to the Library to see what Zhen Shen and Joni were doing, printing some research. Mrs. Looi has such high expectations, a small mistake and you must redo the whole thing :( Mine got rejected 5 times!!! Daniel spent 20 recesses with her settling the Proposal. Its like this cannot, that cannot, must be precise. At the Kitchen. Mrs Looi was not there, so we had to pass it to Ms. Ng.

             I think she is not exactly a permanent staff here. On some days, she does not come to school. Maybe only this year she came to teach.

Cream Puffs for Home Econs.

Hi,

     Today, we baked creme puffs for home econs. I think Joshua added took much Baking powder, then it expanded a lot. He stuffed 4 creme puffs into my super small container O_O. Our group research was done, well except for Joe's. He did not bring the Internet source and the book source. Mrs. Looi said by tomorrow or - 10 marks from the group :(   So sad... Borrowed  a book from Mrs. Looi for Joe. For Chinese, the composition that we did during the holidays was returned. Mine was mediocre, not tooo good. For Music, we watched a film about Chinese Opera, instruments used can be found in the Chinese Orchestra.

       Mr.Wee talked about the Class Readership Award and the video competition. So the point is to get everybody to borrow books ( and read them of course), though the latter may not be compulsory. The Video competition is nation wide. So you  must send in something, about Total Defence, I suppose. 12 people will be picked to receive an Ipod nano each week, regardless of content. You can send in any number, as long as it is not repeated. We also celebrated Yan Han's and Vivian's birthday. There was a Polar cake to be shared, but Yan Han did not take; he had to go off...

        I went to the Spring Lab to do some research, then Jerome popped by and joined in, doing some SUPER LAME things...zzz

           Today it was so disheartening because of the History common test. Either I fail or if i AM LUCKY, just pass only... Wanted to hand in the Proposal form today, but Mrs.Looi didn't come. Imet Zhen Shen & Joni the Library, so we browsed through some blogs :) and did the Home Econs Proposal, although I was not from their group. Printed it out and they submitted it, while I went home.

Singapore Conference Hall rehearsal

Hi,

         Today is the SCHrehearsal for Chinese Orchestra members. Just testing the Hall... played the 2 SYF songs. Its

quite late when we got back from there. I hope I can practise well enough to play fluently. Took the

ECP and exited at Prince Edward Road. Had to pay ERP twice, becauseof peak period. The

Hall was nice but he rehearsal was rather short.We booked 2 buses and 1 lorry. The school 

is so dark when it is at night. Tomorrow is History Test, well 

I only studied some parts---- so sad

Chinese New Year Celebrations!

Hello,

Today we could wear our own clothes to school. Unfortunately I did not:( We watched the Chinese New Year Celebrations. There was the Chinese Orchestra, Harmonica Orchestra, Wushu, Girl Guides, NCC ... We also did the paper cutting for our own class in the Hall. Terrance and I cut out a cow, which represents a cow year. School starts tomorrow. Terrence was talking about the Acer Predator, a gaming PC. Nice design and good specifications. Core i7, Core 2 Extreme processor, much better than my Pentium 4 processor. Whats more, they give instructions on how to overclock the computer. ByE

CCA selection day!!!

          Today is the CCA selection day for our school. Last week was the performance day and today is for the selection. I was told to stay for self-practice today, thus I saw the saw Sec 1 juniors. About 22 people in total. But nobody joined my section :(  I wished that I could join percussion last year. Anyway, there was Canadian Pizza specially prepared for the Chinese Orchestra. Wonder where did they get the money? Many boxes of pizza, to celebrate the Sec 1 students for joining C.O.  I actually wanted to join Choir, like what Terence, Daniel... did. But didn't want to audition for it...  So it ended at about 6 p.m

BB Day

Hello,

             Today is the Boy's Brigade day. The BB members were dressed in their BB uniform, Which includes Yu Yang from our class. We also need to give $ 10 for the T shirt to be worn on the opening day of the Indoor stadium. Well, English diagnostic test is tomorrow... To see how well our level of English is.

First DAy as a 2F' 09 student

Hello, Today is the first day of school. I am glad to be back to meet new friends and teachers.The first day is a breeze. The school accepted many new sec 1 just like when I was in sec 1 too. The sec 4's left unfortunately. So the form teacher for 2 F is Mr Wee :X Co-form is Mdm Tham. Something so terrible is that our classroom, 2F, is right on the top floor( level 5 ) !!!! We have to climb so high. I don't think I can do that... Mr Wee wanted a write up about us and a passport size photograph. Sec 1 orientation is today. They have to stay till 6p.m to sort out their CCA.Like what we did. School ends at 1 p.m on Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays. Only Wednesdays & Thursdays do we end at 1.45 p.m. Interestingly, the individual periods are 45 mins, not the usual 35 mins we had in sec 1. Lessons begin at 11 a.m. today. Mr. Wee was in the class for 2hr 15mins in total. He likes the class to be clean, so we will see how we can solve the cleanliness problem. By the way, there were only 5 people who were originally from 1G in 2F. Cai Hao, Lynnette, Charmaine, Joshua & me.. SEE YOU LATER
